CAMERA CRITTERS AND SATURDAY CRITTERS

My post today is all about a few of the dogs we saw on our road trip around Florida late last January, early February.  I'm not sure where we were as I forgot to take note.  We came out of a restaurant having had lunch and decided to walk around the marina.  I spotted a couple on a tandem bike, with a cart behind it.  On closer inspection I noticed a dog sitting rather regally behind them.

He was a standard black poodle and was definitely living a good life down in the sunshine state.

Bye you cute little dog you.  Can you move on over?  I'm getting awfully tired of walking.  No?  Okay, maybe next time!

Next we strolled along the pier and saw an adorable black pup.  His owner was chatting to some friends, and he was being ever so patient.

Gregg often likes to get off the beaten track.  When we were driving through a quiet neighborhood I saw two dogs in a back yard.

A Chinese-crested Dog....早上好,我的朋友.
My apologies for the white-out.  I couldn't cut and paste without it.  I am hoping this says 'Good morning my friend', in Chinese.

and a French Bulldog.  Bonjour mon ami!

A visible expression on the heat of the day perhaps.

Have a great weekend everyone.

SKYWATCH FRIDAY

This sculpture is a relatively recent addition to Meadowlark Gardens.  When we were there we lucked out again as the skies began to get rather dark and foreboding, but didn't start to rain until we were back at the visitor center where we made our exit.

My thanks to the SkyWatch Team, YogiSandy and Sylvia,  for hosting this wonderful meme.

Happy SkyWatch Friday!

GOOD FENCES

This photo was taken last year in North Dakota.  We were visiting family on the old homestead, a very loving father and his young son (son-in-law and grandson of one of Gregg's cousins) taking a ride.  You can see them on the horizon.  At the time my focus was entirely on the riders, a very special sight indeed.  On revisiting this photo recently and once again enjoying the scene, I then saw the fence and thought it would be a good share for today

Thank you Theresa at The Run*A*Round Ranch Report for continuing another great meme.  Click on the blog link to see other participants, and the button below to find out more information.

A very special group of friends

Last Sunday Gregg and I spent a very special time with old friends.
Two of those friends had moved to one of our southern states a few years back and came up for a wedding.  Another two have moved out of town but fortunately within a reasonable distance so that we can still get together once in a while.  We were all so happy that we were able to get together for this special occasion, and had a lovely lunch at The Hunter's Head Tavern in Upperville, link here.  I am sharing a few photos we took that day.

Fairies at the Garden

"There was a place in childhood that I remember well,
And there's a voice of sweetest tone
Bright fairy tales did tell."

One of my favorite gardens where I have to visit with the fairies before continuing our walk among the flowers.  I have shared them before but there is always something new to see.

NATURE NOTES AND I HEART MACRO

I was chasing dragonflies the other day, all over the lily pads at the last park we went to.  None of the ones I saw would stay still, not even for a second, and I didn't get my photograph.  Well, I went out of the house a few mornings ago to fill up the bird feeders, and there he was.

I didn't think I would have any hope of getting a shot but as I watched he certainly wasn't going anywhere.  I went in to get my camera with the zoom and took a few hurried photos.  I went closer and he still stayed where he was.  A little closer still, he wasn't going anywhere.

In the end I went back into the house and got my camera with the macro lens, went right up to him and took a couple of more photos.  He was a very co-operative dragonfly and I got a little more practice with my macro lens.

NATURE NOTES

At the beginning of Spring, before any of the trees had sprouted their leaves, we went to Huntley Meadows.  It wasn't that warm but the turtles must have known the better weather was on the way.  We found several themselves on long fallen logs.

We even came across an old snapping turtle.  Not the biggest one I have seen here, but big enough.

 And the first frog.

If you would like to see other posts I have shared from Huntley Meadows, you can click on the name below where the labels are.

CAMERA CRITTERS, SATURDAYS CRITTERS, BIRD D'POT AND WILD BIRD WEDNESDAY

Not the closest or the sharpest of this beautiful bird.  I have shared a lot from our road trip to Florida last January, and one other from Corkscrew Swamp.  These were taken at Corkscrew on a very dark, dreary day and therefore my photos aren't the clearest, or even the sharpest, because I was so far away.  Still, with all that being said, I was overjoyed to see a bird I had never set eyes on before and these photos bring back that lovely memory for me.

I found a wonderful blog here and if you scroll down you will find more information.  There are also amazing photographs on a variety of herons.
